Knights of Columbus Honors Illini Council 2782 for Outstanding Council

Since 2008, Michael “Mike” Vasaturo has worked as CFO of New Haven Terminal. When not in the office, Michael Vasaturo volunteers with the Knights of Columbus.

Established in 1882, the Knights of Columbus began as a fraternal benefit society. It provides financial aid to members and their families. Since its inception, the organization has grown to include more than 15,000 councils and 1.9 million members scattered across the globe.

One of the events hosted by the Knights of Columbus is the College Councils Conference. The 50th conference, which occurred on October 2 through 4, 2015, in New Haven, brought together more than 220 Knights from 88 college campuses. At the conference awards banquet, Supreme Knight Carl Anderson gave the keynote address. The Illini Council 2782 at the University of Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, earned recognition as the outstanding college council for the 2015 fraternal year. It repeatedly earned the Star Council Award for reaching insurance and membership quotas.
